Fatima Alibhai (Karachi, Pakistan)
Fatima Alibhai is a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and co-founder of the sustainable artisanal wear brand, Aramis Haijaan and the creative atelier Solarmare Studio. She grew up in Karachi with a cosmopolitan upbringing that has ensured a multicultural curiosity that breathes life into her art.
Alibhai’s work is grounded in a commitment to female empowerment, socio-political protest, and rethinking the lifecycle of textile waste. Her ambition is tempered only by what she believes is the sole reason to stay alive: the process of creation. Her practice is significantly expanded through her continuing education as a musician and a singer: each garment, each photoshoot, each performance is a highly curated visual and tactile narrative on what it means to exist – and to create – in a brave new world.
She graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse University, New York, USA, in 2023 with a B.A in International Relations and Economics.
