Hira Khan is an artist from Karachi, Pakistan, based in Munich, Germany. She completed her Bachelors from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture. Khan’s practice focuses on sculptural research guided by experimental materials, often recycling ready-made objects and mediums in her work, with recurrent engagement of plastics and fabrics. Hira Khan’s thematic concerns are informed by feminist discourse, and drawing parallels between personal migration and integration.
Khan’s recent works have been shown at Under the Mango Tree Gallery, Berlin, and in Munich: Denkraum Deutschland Pinakothek der Moderne Museum, Geranienhaus Schloss Nymphenburg, Glockenbach Biennale, Galerie Stephan Stumpf, mim Raum für Kultur, and the Klohäuschen Biennale. She was an artist-in-residence at the Hollows Artspace in New York and is a member of the Mandarjazail Collective, which focuses on South Asian art and dialog. Khan has been professionally associated with Indus Valley School of Art, Vasl Artists Association, Denkraum Deutschland at Pinakothek der Moderne, SAGA (Suleman Annual Grant for Arts) and part of the curatorial team of the Glockenbach Biennale.
